Composting 101: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know! with Kris McCue
Simsbury Composting Specialist Kris McCue will cover four styles of composting, and the benefits of each. Q and A to follow.

Traditional yard composting: This style of composting involves layering dry yard materials with green yard materials with kitchen scraps, and if you add manure or some soil to the layers you kick up the biology even more.
Hugelkulture is a technique of layering to make a berm or mound which you can then plant directly into.
Bokashi Composting from Korean Natural Farming: This involves making a lactobacillus inoculant then fermenting wheat or rice bran in it which you then use to compost kitchen scraps indoors.
Vermicomposting - This is done indoors in buckets or bins using red wiggler worms to turn your waste into nutrient rich worm castings.

This class is a helpful explanation of easy, accessible, tried and true techniques to create a health-supportive environment around you and your family with less stress and anxiety. We'll discuss:
~ specific meditation practices (e.g. Mindfulness; Guided Visualization);
~ specific breathing exercises and stretches to promote balance in the body;
~ the essential oils that target and promote feelings of relaxation, tranquility and balance.
